I’m a huge exercise buff and 100% basketball obsessed (and I really like Chinese basketball player Yi Jianlian !). I’m also keen on tennis, badminton, ping-pong, and going out on my bike with my husband. I also like dancing: the waltz, modern Korean dance, aerobics and - along similar lines - Tai Chi. In 2010, after I graduated from Xi'an International Studies University (I studied English) I started teaching Chinese to foreigners. Six years of this and a fair bit of management experience as well made me keen to do something bigger. My wish is - to work hard to help bring the best Chinese I can to my keen students.
I am extremely happy with Chloe as my teacher. She is very professional and the classes are always interesting. I can see my own progress from week to week and it makes me want to learn more. I feel lucky I found WaveChinese, Ellen is very approachable and the communication with the teachers is very easy and smooth. All in all, 11 out of 10 :-)
Writing is one of the things I am good at, along with long distance running. I like outdoorsy stuff - climbing mountains, hiking and so on. When I have free time I’m a keen mobile photographer and enjoy watching art films. I was an editor for two years for a youth science magazine after university, and then took a deep breath and plunged into 7 years of teaching followed by management, followed by more teaching. Now I’m trying to put my experience to some kind of good, helping students study quickly, have fun and stay interested. I’m really glad to be working with a team of very able teachers that are enthusiastic and willing make a really unique contribution to our students and the industry.
I have been learning Chinese with Andrea for the past six months primarily for business. Andrea is a patient teacher who goes beyond the well structured lessons and has helped me to understand the role the language plays within Chinese culture. Learning over the internet has proved both cost effective and easy to fit with my ever changing schedule.
I’ve taught Chinese to foreigners for over three years now, I really enjoy it and it’s been rewarding. I’m also a new mum, so on the rare occasion I have free time, I like to read books to recharge my batteries (at the moment, mostly work-related). On the weekends I like to take my toddler to the park and get some sun!
Sara is a great teacher. She is enthusiastic and always well prepared. She is my daughter's favorite teacher. She always seems to know just what pace to go. Sara speeds up when that is necessary, and slows down when Erin is having a hard time. This class is perfect for what we had in mind for Erin. Thank You! Erin is really enjoying her lessons.
I like watching Korean music videos (Gfriend, 4Minute) — the styles appeal to me and I like moving along with the rhythm! I also like travelling, although not with groups; I’ve been to Yunnan and Lijiang, Guilin and Yangshuo and many other places including the Fenghuang Ancient Town and Beijing. I like the feel of different places - the different air, sun and pace of life. I also like dogs, I’ve raised one called 没意思 (‘bored’!).
Mona is a very articulate and give a lot of encouragement, always upbeat and professional.
I'm an ultra film buff, like most kinds of films, and take pleasure in sharing the experience with friends. With films, what appeals to me is experiencing different lives and appreciating the efforts directors and actors have put in to bring them to life. Helping people with their Chinese is something I really enjoy, and I hope that my teaching will help students improve and equally enjoy the learning experience.
Julie is a fantastic teacher and I highly recommend her classes. Not only is she patient and understanding her classes are also very engaging. I also really enjoy how little English is used and that the class time is really focused on developing my Mandarin skills. Subject material is also tailored to my needs taking into account my objectives and goals, which is fantastic!
